The brief for this bathroom renovation was storage without sacrificing space. To accomplish this in roughly a 36-square-foot space it was decided the tub was no longer needed and in it's place a new shower, clad in large format tile, was installed to help visually make the space larger.
An old cumbersome and hard to use closet was replaced with upper and lower cabinets. Since off-the-shelf medicine cabinets are typically too small we designed and built a custom unit in walnut that is deeper than most, and much taller, adding extra storage for everyday items while working well for the 6-foot-plus homeowner. Walnut was also used for the base under the sink and countertop for the aforementioned cabinets to tie everything together.
The brief for this project was to design and fabricate a modern long-lasting two-sided fireplace for a backyard patio.
The fireplace, at 6’ x 2’ x 3’ tall, is made from 16ga. Corten (rusting) steel for longevity. The size was determined for it’s modern proportions and best use of the size of the raw material (4’ x 8’ sheets).
